The two teams are set to square off in the quarter-finals of the NRL Telstra Premiership tonight and the club's biggest star is on the pitch, training for an exciting clash.

It will mark the 25th anniversary of Gagai's debut for the Warriors during that year's grand final, which took place on September 28, 1999 at ANZ Stadium in Melbourne.

The 6-foot-9 Gagai made his NRL debut against Melbourne in round 12, 1999 and played nine minutes.

His shoulder pain came three years later against the Rabbitohs when Gagai hurt his shoulder on a blindside, meaning he didn't receive his first chance at a NRL game since before the 2000 season.

A former World Cup and Brownlow medallist, Gagai was also in the squad for the Gold Coast Titans' premiership-winning 2012 game against Parramatta last season.

It was that game, however, which saw the former South Sydney medallist pick up an injury at the end of the first half and was unable to play in the grand final.

Gagai will come out of this game without fully recovered from shoulder surgery at Cronulla in February 2016, a condition he broke before the season started.
